VICTOR COMPARE

The cloud workflow, on infrastructure you run.

Compare Victor Cloud’s self-service cloud software with provider-operated public clouds. Review servers, storage, networking, automation and who operates the underlying infrastructure.

THE DECISION

Victor Cloud vs Hetzner & DigitalOcean#

Victor Cloud lets a platform team publish compute, images and networks from its own Victor site. Hetzner and DigitalOcean operate the underlying infrastructure for you. The first decision is who should own the hardware, capacity, uptime and service operations.

EVALUATE VICTOR

When control of the platform matters.

Evaluate Victor Cloud when data location, disconnected infrastructure, internal offerings or control of your existing hardware matters enough to operate the platform yourself.

CONSIDER THE ALTERNATIVE

When its strengths match your needs.

Choose a hosted cloud when you need provider-operated capacity and locations, a mature service catalog, and the ability to deploy without maintaining the virtualization platform.

SIDE BY SIDE

Compare the operating model.#

Capabilities depend on the selected version, edition and configuration. These are practical differences, not a feature score.

CURRENT LIMITS

Know the boundary before the pilot.#

All Victor products are Alpha. Installed behavior, source implementation and roadmap work are different evidence. Use the status page and documentation to scope a non-production evaluation.

Status and limits
  • Victor Cloud is software you deploy, not an AlphaBravo-operated public cloud or a hosted-cloud SLA.
  • Community provisions KVM-backed compute at one Victor site. Optional Kubernetes VM management in Victor does not imply Cloud provisions Kubernetes VMs.
  • Managed load balancers require a configured VIP network and appropriate physical failure domains; see the architecture section for implementation details.
  • Do not equate a backup target that accepts S3 with a customer-facing object-storage service.

YOUR EVALUATION

Test the work your users care about.#

  1. 01

Publish one image, size and network; deploy a server through the portal and Terraform.

  2. 02

Verify project isolation, scoped tokens, quotas, hostname/metadata and visible action history.

  3. 03

Test firewall packet behavior, a load-balancer health change and a restored application checksum.

  4. 04

Budget for host capacity, backup storage, upgrades, monitoring and on-call responsibility.
